Nearly four decades after Hillman College first opened its doors on television, the HBCU classic is getting a full sequel treatment โ and this time, the next generation is running the show.
The 10-episode, single-camera series follows Deborah Wayne (Maleah Joi Moon), the daughter of Whitley Gilbert (Jasmine Guy) and Dwayne Wayne (Kadeem Hardison), as she starts her freshman year at Hillman.
The OGs are pulling up too. Jasmine Guy and Kadeem Hardison are both back, alongside Darryl M. Bell (Ron), Cree Summer (Freddie), Dawnn Lewis (Jaleesa), Ajai Sanders (Gina), and Karen Malina White (Charmaine). Method Man joins the cast as Coach Coles.
Behind the camera, the lineage is just as strong: Debbie Allen executive-produces and directed the premiere, Felicia Pride (Bel-Air, Grey's Anatomy) is the creator and showrunner, and Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood also executive-produce. Brandy re-recorded the show's iconic theme song for the new generation.
The series filmed in Atlanta from February to May 2026 and streams all 10 episodes on Netflix starting tomorrow.
