Night one of the DWTS Season 35 two-night premiere (aired Tuesday, Sept 15 on ABC; night two airs tonight) ended in a shocker: Conner Leavitt and pro partner Adele Zaikman were eliminated โ€” the first premiere-night elimination since 2018.

Here's the messy part: online voting on ABC's website glitched during the show, so ONLY text votes counted toward the elimination. Host Alfonso Ribeiro revealed the show still pulled in MORE THAN DOUBLE last year's premiere votes โ€” with only half the votes even counted. Imagine the numbers if the site had actually worked.

The salt in the wound? Conner scored a 12 out of 30 on his salsa to Tag Team's "Whoomp! There It Is," while Guillermo Rodriguez scored a 10 โ€” and Guillermo STAYED. The judges weren't exactly kind either: Carrie Ann Inaba called Conner's routine "a bit chaotic," and Bruno Tonioli hit him with "You definitely poppedโ€ฆ at the wrong time, a lot of the time."

To his credit, Conner went out classy: "This has been the most fun. I have the greatest dance partner in the world in Adele." And Adele: "It's a dream come true, no matter what."

๐Ÿง  SNUBBZ TAKE: ABC got DOUBLE last year's votes with the voting site broken and still sent Conner home on a half-counted vote. Meanwhile Guillermo walks out with a 10 and a smile.
