The Carolina Panthers didn't waste any time in Atlanta.
On the VERY first offensive play of Sunday's Week 2 matchup at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Falcons quarterback Cooper Rush — starting in place of the sidelined Michael Penix Jr. — fumbled the snap, and Panthers safety Nick Scott pounced on it at the Atlanta 35.
Bryce Young made them pay immediately. Facing 4th-and-goal, Young tossed a 3-yard touchdown strike to Chuba Hubbard at the 10:48 mark of the first quarter: 7-0, Panthers.
The defense kept feasting. Bobby Okereke intercepted a pass tipped by Devin Lloyd for another Carolina possession, and after a 36-yard Jalen Coker punt return set up prime field position, kicker Ryan Fitzgerald drilled a 37-yard field goal with 4:29 left in the quarter: 10-0, Panthers.
