💸 THE FED JUST MADE YOUR MONEY EXPENSIVE! First Rate Hike in 3 Years

They said inflation was cooling. Then the Fed walked in and said: nah, run that price UP. 💸

The Federal Open Market Committee voted 12-0 on Wednesday to raise the benchmark lending rate by a quarter point to a range of 3.75–4% — the first rate HIKE in more than three years, and the first big move under new Fed Chair Kevin Warsh.

"Today's policy action will support a timelier return to the Committee's 2 percent goal," the Fed wrote in its statement. Translation: your money is about to cost more. 🥲

Wall Street heard the news and started tweaking. The Dow shed more than 600 points (down 1.2%), the S&P 500 lost 0.4%, and the Nasdaq went flat. Even crypto caught the fade — Bitcoin slid to around $75,000, down nearly 4%, Ethereum dropped over 6% to $2,411, and XRP got cooked, falling nearly 12%. That's after the Senate ALSO fumbled the crypto CLARITY Act vote 49-50 on Tuesday, sending over $600 million in long positions to the shadow realm.

Sixteen of the 18 FOMC officials are penciling in ANOTHER hike before the end of the year. So yeah — this ain't a one-time thing.

What does it mean for you? If you got a variable-rate credit card, a home equity line, or you're thinking about financing anything — the price of borrowing just went up. Your savings account?
