President Donald Trump announced Friday, September 18, on Truth Social that CNN, MS NOW (formerly MSNBC) and Politico are banned from the White House โ€” "effective immediately."

Trump accused the outlets of "fake news" and "fiction and lies," and warned that more outlets could be next, according to USA Today.

On Saturday, September 19, the ban turned real: reporters from all three outlets showed up to cover the White House and were turned away at the gate โ€” the Secret Service confiscated their press passes, according to People.

CNN and Politico both fired back, vowing to keep covering the White House and to fight the ban on First Amendment grounds.
